Miskolc Trip

As you have seen on WhatsApp and Instagram the next event is going to be two day trips in our hometown, Miskolc!

1st day (21 September, Friday)
Meeting point/time: 12:00, E/4 hostel

Ever wondered what that building in our logo might be? It’s a medieval castle from the 14th century called the Castle of Diósgyőr (don’t worry about the pronunciation). You’ll have the chance to see it in life-size next Friday!

We are meeting at noon at the hostel to embark on a bus/tram journey to the castle. 

The castle is a relatively small one with 4 sturdy towers which will allow you to have an excellent view on the city. The building has recently been renovated so its gothic ornaments shine as they did in the 14th century.
Fun fact: this castle used to be the queens’ engagement present in the middle ages

After our little time travel to medieval times we’re going to have an ice cream, cake or coffee (or all three) in a nearby confectionery.

To wrap up the first day of the event we are heading back to the annual film festival held in Miskolc (Jameson Cinefest).

2nd day (22 September, Saturday)
Meeting point/time: 9 am, E/4 hostel

Miskolc is famous for the aforementioned castle and another palace which is also almost off the map of the city: Lillafüred. The marvellous 20th century building hidden in the mountains now functions as a hotel and a wonderful terrace garden and a lake is situated right next to it.

After arriving to the edge of the city by bus, we’ll start off our event with a little walk in the nature to a restaurant where we’ll have a delicious lunch in the mountains. 

Our original destination will be a bit farther so we’ll have to continue our little walk to Lillafüred where we’ll check out the palace and the terrace garden.

When our refreshing time in the park is over we’ll return to the city by a narrow-gauge railway through the forest (let’s call it tiny train, it sounds cooler) around 4 pm.
